Recently, among the non-standard tasks solved by our company, a special place has been occupied by automotive equipment that performs special tasks. In particular, this is an attached hydraulic equipment designed to evacuate damaged vehicles to a place where they can be safely repaired.
Often, a damaged or immobilized car is located in a field or forest belt, in off-road conditions, which makes it much more difficult to tow. Sometimes, one or more wheels are damaged or missing, which makes the issue of towing almost impossible to solve.
In this case, our new development will help – an evacuation mechanism. It is attached to the rear of the tow truck frame and allows you to lift the damaged vehicle off the ground by the wheels or axle for further transportation.
To solve this problem, a tow truck with a mounted recovery mechanism approaches the damaged vehicle in reverse, which must be lifted off the ground, secured and towed. The design of the product includes hydraulic cylinders and fastening mechanisms. The main hydraulic cylinder extends the boom under the axle of the damaged vehicle. Then, using the included winch, the damaged vehicle is towed onto wheel or axle brackets and secured to them with straps. Two lifting hydraulic cylinders lift the boom and the vehicle by the front or rear axle to the required height.
After this, if necessary, the tow truck boom pulls it closer to the rear side of the tow truck. Thus, it is possible to transport wheeled vehicles to any distance while maintaining a safe speed. A rotating traverse with two brackets gives the transported vehicle a certain degree of freedom and allows it to make turns while moving.
A prototype of the described mechanism has been manufactured and passed the necessary tests. The customer will soon receive this product to successfully solve special problems.
